About Us
The River's Edge Meditation Group is a community-focused non-profit founded in 2012 by Margie Rodgers and Seamus Kennedy to explore, learn, and practice meditation. This vision has developed into an enthusiasm-generating center of spiritual development, as well as become a mutually supportive refuge for weary minds and hearts.

Our intention to gather with like-minded people is to become more compassionate, kind and generous human beings in the world. This community has a beautiful Tibetan Buddhist core mixed with western faith perspectives, psychology, integral theory, neurobiology, and even storytelling finds its way into our discussions! We are open to people's belief system as long as respect is given to all .
Most importantly though, we laugh often, as we support each other on the path of waking up. Whether you are a Beginner (will receive basic meditation guidance if needed), or a seasoned practitioner, you are warmly welcomed. Thanks to Covid and technology, anyone from anywhere can join us as we've expanded to a joint virtual and in-person community.

In addition to meditation practice every Wednesday evening, we regularly hold discussions on book readings, or explore specific practices we find interesting and helpful. We offer workshops for those who want to start a meditation practice, plus we bring meditation teachers to our center for more advanced workshops throughout the year.

Why the name River's Edge Meditation?
We often get carried away by our thoughts and emotions. It's easy to be swept away into the deep dark choppy waters in our mind. Learning to meditate doesn't stop your thoughts, but it does give you a safe vantage point to watch your mind from the shore.

Seamus Kennedy

Margie Rodgers
Seamus has practiced meditation and studied the great wisdom traditions for over 30 years. As a student of Contemplative Christianity, Advaita Vedanta and Tibetan Buddhism, Seamus has an unusually integral perspective on spiritual practice and development. He has practiced Chinese medicine for 15 years, and enjoys helping others to get "unstuck".
Margie has practiced a variety of meditations for decades, but finds a home in Tibetan Buddhism. She has been a student of Pema Chödrön for 19 years and serves as Vice President of Pema Chödrön Foundation. Margie also studies with Tergar International with Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche. She recently completed the Anywhere, Anytime Meditation Teacher Training with Tergar International. She is a Certified End of Life Doula and former Interfaith Spiritual Care Counselor. Introducing people to beginning meditation techniques is near and dear to her heart.

We seek to be a community that intentionally welcomes all without requiring adherence to any belief or creed.
